‘Próximamente’ is a festival and collaborative platform that fosters exchange between Latin American artists and organisations, their diasporas, and European counterparts, while also opening spaces for dialogue with Africa. The festival presents emerging and established artists through exhibitions, works in progress, performance-lectures, talks, and international residencies.

As part of my role, I research contemporary art scenes across different countries, engaging in dialogue with artists, colleagues, and curators from those regions in order to curate a strong and contextually grounded programme in Brussels. I also develop networks between leading institutions in Latin America and Europe, supporting artists’ professional development through international residencies, co-presentations, and co-productions.

The festival also functions as a meeting point for curators and cultural practitioners from around the world, offering a space to encounter and reflect on artistic creation from the Global South. Through this work, ‘Próximamente’ seeks to create meaningful connections between territories, practices, and ways of thinking, while challenging dominant narratives within the international art circuit.

Within this framework, I created and curated the Critical Thinking Laboratories on Contemporary Cultural Management Practices, held in Brussels and in Mexico as part of the UNAM University Festival in Mexico City. For this laboratory, I invited curators Andrea Duarte and Sandra Benites to take part in an online conversation that became the keynote of the first Proxi Lab. Their dialogue offered a reflection on Guarani cosmology, exploring how to listen from the body and how to imagine a curatorial model rooted in that embodied form of knowledge.

Overall, my work with ‘Próximamente’ has focused on building a multidisciplinary and transnational platform for artistic exchange, critical thinking, and collaboration, connecting Latin America, its diasporas, Europe, and the Global South through situated, and collective practices.
